One of the Home Defence squadrons, No 39 was formed at Hounslow on 15 April 1916 and operated detachments at Hainault Farm and Sutton's Farm. In August a detachment was established at North Weald. Operations against Zeppelins and later Gotha bombers continued until November 1918, with no success, initially with BE2s and from September 1917, Bristol F2Bs. In November 1918 the squadron was sent to France but five days later the Armistice came along and the squadron disbanded on 16 November 1918.

We know everyone needs to get away every now and then, so we thought it was about time dogs had a holiday too!
Being locked away in a strange kennel is no fun. Your dogs are lovingly welcomed into our very welcoming home and live with us while you go away assured that they are safe and happy.
If there’s anybody who knows about dogs, then it’s us. For 11 years we’ve been arranging ‘homey’ holidays just as good as the one we had with Grandma when we went to the beach, ate ice cream and everything. Every day, everybody says thank you, and we don’t think life can get any better than that!

Bespoke Motorhome Design and Build
Landscape is the original source of my paintings. This is translated through motifs that represent Field and Furrow, Harvest and Plough, River and Trackway, Fence and Form. The paintings are sometimes nearer, sometimes further, from the subject characteristics.
A Period photographing these landscape elements from the air, gave me an awareness of seeing the land as a two dimensional composition.
Other elements have come from observing bands of natural dye colours, in hand woven rugs. These parallel the browns and ochres of field lines, linking back to the land itself.
Thus my current work is abstract, with very strong landscape associations. The sources remain, but the paintings themselves are the reason for the journey.
